Hello, I’m Sonia P. and I’m an alcoholic!

I am so grateful and honored to serve as your Chair for the 26th annual San Diego Feeling Good Round Up!  Our theme this year is “Road of Happy Destiny,” and I am amazed and grateful every day to be given the opportunity to participate on this Road of Happy Destiny we call recovery!   I was blessed to find my way to an exceptionally welcoming, loving and supportive 12-step recovery community in my former home in Oakland, CA.  I am now additionally blessed to have the amazing support of another loving recovery family and community here in San Diego.   Being of service as your Chair has given me a renewed hope and faith in the 12 Steps and 12 Traditions and a sense of purpose in these interesting and challenging times!  I am so grateful to be a part of SDFG 2010, to be building new and wonderful friendships and partnerships in our community, and to have the opportunity to share with all of you on this exciting and abundant Road of Happy Destiny!   

We are a few months away from SDFG 2010 and everything is moving along smoothly!   We have a snazzy new logo that was voted on at our February committee “Bonding Weekend” retreat in Julian, CA.  (Thanks and congratulations, Eric!)  Our annual BBQ fundraiser will be held Friday, June 25 at Mission Beach.  If registration costs for SDFG 2010 are a hardship this year please know that we will again offer reduced registration fees or full scholarships for volunteers.  Our volunteer sign up party will be held at the Live and Let Live Alano Club in August.  No one is ever turned away from SDFG for lack of funds.  YOU are more important than your money!  Details for all upcoming events will be posted on our website soon…

Our SDFG 2010 committee continues to meet every first Monday of the month at 7pm at the Handlery Hotel.  Please join us!

I encourage more women, al-anon members, parents, young people and people of color to join our planning committee!  Your input and participation is welcomed!  It’s my vision and hope that we continue to have growing participation and input from all the diverse aspects of our rainbow recovery community at SDFG 2010!  Your general committee members and I are working together to offer workshops,  speaker meetings and entertainment at SDFG 2010 this year to reflect the diverse interests of our LGBT recovery community.
 
To everybody involved in SDFG in the past—welcome back and thank you so much for your continuing support and participation!  To anybody new out there thinking about joining us at SDFG this year—welcome!  Please join us!  Our hope is that you enjoy the fellowship, grow in your recovery and enjoy everything else beautiful San Diego has to offer!
